Manasian Backs Blue Raven’s MediaMate

BOSTON Blue Raven is seeking to better compete in the crowded multimedia products field with some help from independent shop Manasian Inc., which is helping the client launch a line of products and accessories.

The agency in Waltham, Mass., has created package design and point-of-purchase materials for the company’s MediaMate 7000 Series player (that records video and audio and stores movies, photos and music), as well as its iPod and PSP accessory offerings.

“Packaging in this category is very important because it needs to help sell the product right at point of purchase. It needed to contain a lot of information on the package yet look “cool and contemporary” enough for our audience,” said Barry Yanes, evp, sales and marketing, at the Wilmington, Mass., client.

The accent is on ease-of-use and portability, with a sharp blue-and-gold color scheme and simple text that promises, in the case of Blue Raven’s 15-hour PSP battery: “Game on…and on…and on!”

Karyn Goba and Sam Lakas worked on the overall design, with production chores handled by vp Leann Phoenix.

Manasian is also building a new Web site for the client and hooked the company up with PR shop Red Javelin, which is coordinating national publicity for the product launch.

MediaMate combines built-in DVR capabilities in a unit with a seven-inch LCD digital color screen. The product is designed as a highly user-friendly multimedia player for people on the go who don’t want to bring along additional hardware. The 40G model retails for $379.
