WASHINGTON — The International Baking Company, makers of Wonder Bread, and its agency, Campbell Mithun, Minneapolis, have agreed not to make unproven health claims in ads for the bread after a complaint was filed with the Federal Trade Commission.

The FTC said the bread maker claimed in ads running from August to December 2000 that calcium improves memory, when there is no scientific evidence supporting such a claim.

No fines were imposed on the company or the agency.
