Macdonald Joins Sagon-Phior

Ian Macdonald, who has worked as a freelance creative at various Southern California agencies, has joined Sagon-Phior Group as creative director.
Macdonald, 34, most recently freelanced at Saatchi & Saatchi Los Angeles, working on Toyota advertising, and at Rubin Postaer and Associates, working on Honda.
At Sagon-Phior, Macdonald said, he will be able to “make a difference … set down roots, mentor and have fun taking the creative to a whole new level.” His first order of business has been to redesign the agency’s “What will we do with our brain today?” self-promotion piece.
Macdonald is the third major management hire at Sagon-Phior in eight months, following the additions of president Andy Carmichael and vp of marketing Jeffrey McKinney. The Sherman Oaks, Calif., agency, a unit of the Interpublic Group of Cos., is also led by co-founders Glenn Sagon and Rio Phior.
“Ian is the perfect addition to our team,” said Sagon. “Appointing a top-quality, experienced creative director with a strong broadcast background was essential to complete this phase of our agency restructuring process.”
Separately, the shop has added two account executives: Michelle Kahan and John Ehrke. Kahan, formerly of Bates USA West, Irvine, Calif., is assigned to Kenwood USA. Ehrke, previously with McElroy: FCB, Newport Beach, Calif., is working on various accounts. K
