If you wanted to get into the estimated $1 million Pro Bowlers Association review and thought your agency’s credentials were more convincing than the other 50 shops which submitted materials, consider this:
James Bunting Advertising in Lancaster, Pa., sent the consultant, Lee Berke at The Marquee Group, New York, an old-fashioned bowling scoring table (shown here) that includes an ashtray holder and groove for the pencil. An attached note hinted that the shop had a staffer who could bowl a 300 game.
The Chapman Agency, New York, which met PBA commissioner Mark Gerberich at a sports trade show last year, sent its best bowlers to Chelsea Piers to hit a few pins with the commish last month.
Each of these shops made the cut to the semifinals, along with Holland Advertising, Partners & Shevack, Christy MacDougall Mitchell and Hollyrock/ Miller, all New York, and Doe-Anderson, Louisville, Ky.
