LKM Leads Cheers for Olympic Aspirants

ATLANTA Loeffler Ketchum Mountjoy has added USA Canoe/Kayak to its client list, according to the agency.

The Charlotte, N.C., agency said it was chosen without a formal review after the team moved its governing body to Charlotte. Cory Hughes, vice president and director of business and brand development at LKM, said the shop would develop advertising and marketing programs to promote the team’s participation in the upcoming Olympic trials.

The goal of the new campaign is to get local residents excited about having an Olympic team in Charlotte, Hughes said.

“LKM will present USA Canoe/Kayak as Charlotte’s Olympic team and build local enthusiasm,” added Hughes. “Our long-term goal is to recruit and develop corporate partners and sponsors to assist with funding to support athletic training for the team.”

USA Canoe/Kayak will compete at the Olympic trials in South Bend, Ind., and Oakland, Calf., next month, the shop said. If the team qualifies, it will move on to compete in the Olympic Summer Games in Athens, Greece.

Campaign spending was not disclosed.
