Listen In to Vonk via Talent Zoo

ATLANTA Nancy Vonk, the co-chief creative officer of Ogilvy & Mather in Toronto who criticized Neil French last month for his disparaging comments about women, will discuss the topic Wednesday on a podcast on the Talent Zoo Web site.

The podcast, hosted by Sally Hogshead, will be available on the Web site at 9 a.m. EST Wednesday. The 20-minute interview will be followed by a second podcast at the same time next week.

Hogshead, who was creative director and managing director of the former Crispin Porter + Bogusky office in Los Angeles, asks Vonk if she regrets criticizing French for his comments and if she would do it again. Other topics include a discussion of the strengths of women as leaders, sexism in the ad business, ways women can be more successful, and how they can manage motherhood and a career.

Both Hogshead and Vonk are wives and mothers who have worked as top agency creatives.

French resigned last week as a creative consultant for WPP Group after a barrage of criticism for his Oct. 6 comments that more women are not creative directors because they are too concerned with child rearing to succeed in business.

Vonk, who said she considered herself a friend of French, responded to his comments on www.ihaveanidea.org, an alliance of advertising creatives that co-sponsored French’s appearance at a conference. She called his opinions “outrageous” and “derogatory. “

Tomorrow’s podcast is available by connecting to Radio Talent Zoo on the company’s Web site.
