The television, radio and print effort, created by August, Lang & Husak in Bethesda, Md., is designed to educate consumers about so-called “communication disorders.”

“How to destroy your ears slowly” is the tagline of one of the spots depicting a set of stereo headphones.

More than 42 million Americans are afflicted with a variety of such potentially debilitating conditions, including stuttering, hearing loss and aphasia (difficulty in speaking or comprehending speech, typically triggered by stroke).
