Lifetime Television says it will launch a third network this summer, Lifetime Real Women.

The 24-hour channel will focus on reality-based programs involving women – for example, Lifetime’s new nonfiction series Women Docs. Unveiled Tuesday at Lifetime’s upfront presentation in New York, Women Docs follows female medics, from interns to seasoned surgeons, around hospitals throughout the country.

The first installment tells four stories from New York’s St. Vincent’s Hospital where, over a 48-hour period, a premature baby fights for life, a woman preps for reconstructive surgery after breast cancer, a pregnant woman goes into early labor and surgeons perform an emergency heart bypass.
