Knight Ridder Digital Appoints CMO

NEW YORK Knight Ridder Digital has hired Anna Zornosa as its chief marketing officer.

In the post, Zornosa will direct the San Jose, Calif.-based company’s business and product strategy, drive national marketing and communications, and oversee metrics and analysis. She will absorb the duties of vice president of strategic marketing Ross Settles, who will remain at Knight Ridder Digital until year’s end, working on the transition and other strategic initiatives, according to a company representative.

Zornosa will report to Hilary Schneider, president and CEO of Knight Ridder Digital, which manages the Internet properties of Knight Ridder, the nation’s second-largest newspaper publisher.

She joins the company after serving three years at Topica, most recently as president and CEO. Carter Hostelley, senior vice president of finance and administration at the San Francisco-based e-mail service provider, has been named to succeed Zornosa in that role.

Before Topica, Zornosa spent about a year as senior vice president of marketing at Women.com Networks, where she developed a marketing strategy that encompassed public relations, content syndication, membership, brand advertising, traffic measurement, advertising sales and e-commerce.

She also has held senior-level marketing and editorial posts at SmartAge, PointCast, CMP Publications and Ziff Davis Magazines Networks, among other companies.
