Kia Assigns Public Relations to PR21

BOSTON Kia Motors America has chosen PR21 for public relations duties following a review, sources said.

The Santa Monica, Calif.-based PR practice, a unit of Edelman Public Relations, bested six-year incumbent Pacific Communications Group, Torrance, Calif., and Grey Global Group’s GCI Group and WPP Group’s Cohn & Wolf, both Los Angeles, in the final round of a review. The client declined comment; officials at the agency could not be reached.

PR21 is charged with a variety of public relations duties, including the launches of several new vehicles the Irvine, Calif.-based company plans to introduce in the next year.

The budget is in the mid to high six-figure range. Swerling & Associates of Malibu, Calif., oversaw the review process.
