Barkley & Evergreen in Kansas City, Mo., will represent its hometown newspaper, The Kansas City Star, handling what agency officials called a “blue-chip local account.”
B&E was chosen over two other local shops, Muller + Co. and Kuhn & Winterborn, for the $1 million account. There was no incumbent agency of record.
Scott Aylward, B&E advertising president, said the shop’s campaign, which will include broadcast, print and outdoor executions, will be the paper’s first brand-building initiative in several years.
