JWT Chicago Names Woodall Creative Leader

CHICAGO J. Walter Thompson has hired Graham Woodall as evp, executive creative director of its office here starting Monday, the WPP Group agency said.

Woodall, 43, was previously ecd at the now defunct Publicis Groupe agency D’Arcy Masius Benton & Bowles in New York. He joined the network in 1991, as ecd for the Singapore office. He moved to New York in 1997. Since D’Arcy was shuttered in 2003, Woodall has been working on film projects.

JWT Chicago has been without a creative leader since March, when Rick Kemp took the creative director’s post at Grey Global Group’s Grey in Toronto. JWT Chicago president Barry Krause, who joined the agency in February 2003, had started a search for a creative leader some months before Kemp’s departure.

Among those considered for the post was former Leo Burnett creative Steffan Postaer, but contractual issues with Burnett got in the way. Postaer has accepted the position of chairman and chief creative officer of Havas’ Euro RSCG in Chicago. Because of the same contract with Burnett, however, he likely will not be able to start that job until November, sources said.
