Judges Look at Seattle Creative

Advertising, Design Evaluated Separately
LOS ANGELES–The Seattle Show has announced the panel of judges for its 1999 advertising and design awards ceremony.
The advertising judges, who gathered to look over creative work last week, are: Nick Cohen of Mad Dogs & Englishmen, New York; Steve Simpson of Goodby, Silverstein, & Partners, San Francisco; John Vitro of VitroRobertson, San Diego; Doug Adkins of Hunt Adkins, Minneapolis; and Bob Moore of Wieden & Kennedy, Portland, Ore.
A separate panel will judge design entries.
“We wanted the show to be about the best creative work coming out of Seattle,” said event co-chair Fred Hammerquist of Seattle agency Hammerquist & Halverson. “By establishing a group of judges expressly for graphic design, we’re taking a big step towards this goal. We couldn’t be happier with the people who’ve committed themselves to judging the show.”
The call for entries was hand-delivered earlier this year in the form of mock Chinese food containers, complete with chopstick pencils to fill out the necessary forms.
Over 50 awards will be given out at the show, to be held Dec. 7 at the Hotel W in Seattle.
