Jen Neal, the chief marketing officer of BBDO North America, is leaving at the end of January to relocate to the West Coast to be with her family.
Neal joined the Omnicom agency in June, after exiting her role at its corporate sibling PHD at the end of 2008, where she was managing partner. She is married to David Neal, who left his job as executive producer of NBC Sports last summer to create his own Los Angeles-based production company.
BBDO, which cited Jen Neal’s contribution to the agency’s win of the Arby’s business in December, said a successor would be named at a later date. “I have enjoyed my time at BBDO and will miss working with such an incredibly talented group of people. However, with my husband’s recent move to the West Coast, it became impossible for me to be in two places at the same time,” Neal said.
She spent nearly four years at the New York office of PHD, helping to land the likes of Hyatt and New Balance. Neal left PHD after the company filled its U.S. CEO position with Scott Hagedorn. (Neal was believed to be among the candidates for the CEO job.) Before PHD, Neal was a brand and ad marketing director at Time Inc.’s This Old House and a group account director at Omnicom’s Arnell in New York. Earlier in her career, she was a senior director of marketing partnerships at the NBA/WNBA.
At BBDO, Neal replaced Mark Goldstein, who had been CMO since he joined BBDO in 2005.
In making Neal’s hire earlier this year, BBDO chairman and chief creative officer David Lubars cited Neal’s familiarity with BBDO via past joint pitches with PHD and her diverse experience, having worked at a media shop, client side (This Old House, NBA/WNBA) and at a smaller creative agency (Arnell).
