Jacobs Becomes Co-CD of Roberts & Tarlow

NEW YORK Roberts & Tarlow has added a second creative director to partner with Kathleen Malone, the Omnicom Group shop’s top creative since 2002.

Glen Jacobs, an art director and former group creative director at Interpublic Group’s Gotham, is now co-creative director of Roberts & Tarlow, along with Malone, a copywriter by trade. Together, they will lead the New York agency’s creative department, said CEO Stone Roberts, to whom both report.

“Glen’s depth and breadth of experience add significantly to the creative portfolio of our agency,” Roberts said. “His combined talents and ability to execute strategies beautifully and flawlessly will become a tremendous asset as we manage our clients’ iconic brands.”

Johnson & Johnson’s Neutrogena is the largest client at Roberts & Tarlow, a unit of Omnicom’s DDB that also handles 3M’s Scotchgard, Contours Express and Lactalis USA’s President cheeses.

At Gotham, Jacobs focused on key client Maybelline and also was a managing partner. He joined in June 2003 and left last month.

Chief creative officer Lynn Giordano has absorbed creative duties on Maybelline while the agency seeks a new group head, said chairman Gunnar Wilmot. The position may be filled as soon as next week.

Jacobs, 53, has worked with Roberts twice before: at Gotham, where Roberts was co-chairman and CEO until May 2004, and at SSC&B:Lintas, where they both worked in the late 1980s. Jacobs also has held creative posts at Bozell, Ogilvy & Mather and Publicis, and his brand experience ranges from Jaguar and Perrier to Chanel No. 5 and Coke Classic.
