DDB Dallas top creative director Steve Bassett will leave the shop in November to return to The Martin Agency.

Bassett, recruited last year to replace departed creative star Jim Ferguson, will resume his former role of senior vice president and group creative director at the Richmond, Va., agency.

Bassett cited family concerns as his reason for leaving. “I like my job and I’m really proud of what we’ve done here,” he said. “We just got homesick for Virginia.”

A farewell e-mail he circulated to agency staffers also made humorous reference to the insufferable and record-breaking heat experienced in Dallas this summer.
