Island vs. Mainland Finalists for Hawaii Tourism

LOS ANGELES The Hawaii Visitors & Convention Bureau is considering four finalists in the review for its creative and media account, the client confirmed.

The four shops that pitched the business last week were WPP’s Ogilvy & Mather and the incumbent, independent Milici Valenti Ng Pack, both in Honolulu, and Interpublic Group’s McCann-Erickson and independent WongDoody, both in Los Angeles, the client said.

The HVCB expects to select an agency before the end of this week to handle the four-year contract, said client director of advertising Gail Harding. The contract becomes effective Jan. 1, 2004.

Billings could not immediately be determined. The HVCB spent $10 million on ads in 2002 and $5 million through August of this year, according to TNS Media Intelligence/CMR.
