If President Clinton plans another vacation on Martha’s Vineyard this summer, he won’t have to tote along a paperback for beach reading.
Beginning this month, a Florida-based magazine publisher plans to devote two of its six issues a year to covering a pair of Massachusetts isles: the Vineyard and Nantucket.
Launched two years ago, Times of the Islands covers Sanibel and Captiva Islands, located off the coast of Florida. According to publisher Friedrich Jaeger, both states’ islands have similar demographic profiles: affluent, educated baby boomers and retirees.
“The people who come to Sanibel and Captive are similar to the people who enjoy Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket at the opposite season,” said Jaeger, who added he has no intention of competing with the Nantucket Times.
