MSNBC’s $2M Ad Blitz
To support its Sept. 1 redesign, MSNBC.com has spent close to $2 million on a campaign that includes 10 million impressions on PointCast, Yahoo! and Disney’s Family.com, among others. Print ads will run in Newsweek. TV spots will air on MSNBC and NBC local affiliates. Quantum Leap Communications, Chicago, is MSNBC’s agency of record.

NFL Ads: Cyber Punt
The 1997 National Football League season kicked off in cyberspace this weekend with rookie sponsors First Virtual Holdings Inc. and E-Trade signing up for sponsorships in the popular football area of ESPN SportsZone. The section also carries ads from several old reliables, including Visa, Gatorade, Sprint and Pizza Hut.

The Globe Seeks Agency
WebGenesis, the New York-based publisher of The Globe, a community and content site, will start an agency search for its $5-8 million account. A decision is expected by early October and a TV, print and online campaign is slated for January. No agencies have yet been contacted.

CBS Affil Classifieds
Classifieds2000 and CBS have partnered to produce classified ads for 10 CBS affiliates’ Web sites. Classifieds2000 will provide the classifieds. The CBS stations will sell additional ads on the sites and send traffic there through cross-promotions.
