Homestead Debuts Elements
Newcomer personal homepage and community site Homestead, Menlo Park, Calif., today introduced Elements, a branded sponsorship program that lets advertisers support free tools for homepage building. The program starts with four sponsors. Rolling Stone Online/ JamTV will sponsor seven music-related search Elements for incorporation into personal pages; VantageNet will offer Web Poll to let users conduct surveys; Wired Digital’s HotBot will offer search; and AccuWeather will sponsor a weather search function. Most Elements are live now.
SBC to Sell Flycast Banners
Online ad network Flycast Communications, San Francisco, announced that SBC Interactive, Pasadena, Calif., will resell advertising on the Flycast network of 700 sites to its clients. Through Flycast, SBC Interactive will offer businesses in seven states the ability to geographically target ads on more than 700 Flycast sites. The partnership follows a similar one by Flycast with Bell South; both are part of Flycast’s Local Market/Value Added Reseller Division.
Excite Ready for The Oscars
Excite, Redwood City, Calif., today will launch a “sitelet” for coverage of the Academy Awards. The single page includes features, news, info about the nominees, polls and, of course, shopping, in this case for movie soundtracks, videos and Oscar memorabilia.
UBL Partners with LA Times
The Ultimate Band List, Encino, Calif., has entered a one-year partnership that will add UBL branded music content, links and commerce to the Los Angeles Times’ online entertainment guide, Calendar Live! UBL will be integrated by mid-February.
