IPG Shop to Chart Boating Course

CHICAGO The Grow Boating Marketing Task Force, a coalition of marine industry companies, has selected Interpublic Group’s Carmichael Lynch to handle its $10 million advertising account, according to the shop.

The Minneapolis agency bested Omnicom Group’s DDB in Chicago, IPG’s Mullen in Wenham, Mass., and The Richards Group, an independent in Dallas. Jones Lundin Beals in Chicago conducted the review.

“We have had two days of presentations by four of the best agencies in the country,” said John Dotson, chairman of the GBMTF, in a statement. “Carmichael Lynch showed us that they are a smart, creative strategic agency. They clearly demonstrated that they understand the challenges of our industry and brought compelling ideas to the table.”

Founded in October 2003, the task force is made up of the Marine Retailers Association of America in Oak Park, Ill., the Marina Operators Association of America in Washington, D.C., and the National Marine Manufacturers Association in Chicago.
