Insurer Puts Media Buying in Play

LOS ANGELES Zurich Life Insurance has launched a review for its media buying account, confirmed Bob Wolf Partners/TPG, which is leading the search.

Account billings are $5-10 million, said Dan Pearlman, co-chief executive officer of the consultancy in Los Angeles. The creative portion of the account is handled in-house.

Requests for proposals have been issued to an undisclosed number of direct response media buying agencies nationwide, said Pearlman The incumbent, WPP’s Wunderman in New York, has been invited to participate in the review, he said.

“The account has been with Wunderman for a good period of time,” said Pearlman. “Corporate policy dictated taking a closer look and re-evaluating resources.”

The Schaumburg, Ill.-based provider of life insurance and financial services products will select about four semifinalists the week of June 9, Pearlman said. A winner is expected to be named by the end of June.
