GCD on Lexus Exits Team One

LOS ANGELES— Jack Fund, a group creative director on Lexus at Team One Advertising, has left the El Segundo, Calif., shop, the agency confirmed. Tom Cordner, co-chairman and chief creative officer, said, “Jack has done some really great work during his time at Team One, and we will miss his contribution.” Fund, who had his own shop, simply called Jack, prior to joining Team One in March 2001, could not be reached for comment.

Leagas Out of Sun Microsystems Review

SAN FRANCISCO—Leagas Delaney in San Francisco was cut from Sun Microsystems’ review for a creative project, sources said. The remaining contenders are Sun creative shop JWT & Tonic in San Francisco and Fallon in Minneapolis. Sources said a decision is due in mid-September. Leagas executives declined comment. Sun, based in Santa Clara, Calif., spends roughly $100 million annually on global advertising. Shops in the review may have the chance to inherit Sun’s entire creative account.

Frontier Airlines Trims to 4 in $10 Mil. Review

LOS ANGELES—Frontier Airlines narrowed the search for an agency to handle its estimated $10 million account from 15 to four undisclosed shops, the client confirmed. Ian Arthur, senior director of marketing and branding for the Denver, Colo.-based airline, said the agencies are “a diverse group from all over the country.” The client, which currently handles advertising in-house, is visiting finalists this week to review capabilities and meet potential team members. Presentations will take place mid-month, with a decision by the end of September.

Hill, Holliday Names Kayser Co-CD

SAN FRANCISCO—Hill, Holliday, Connors, Cosmopulos here named Joe Kayser co-creative director, a month after the departure of president Nancy Hill. Kayser, 34, joins creative director Rob Bagot in overseeing the shop’s eight creatives. The pair will work together on accounts such as Togo’s, Red Roof Inn and Beringer Wines. Kayser most recently worked at Publicis & Hal Riney here on accounts such as Sprint PCS, Saturn and iOmega. The agency hopes to replace Hill by October.

Ground Zero Partners With Girls Intelligence

LOS ANGELES—Ground Zero has partnered with the Girls Intelligence Agency to pursue companies that make products targeting girls. GIA, a marketing and research company that has worked with such clients as Universal Studios (Blue Crush), Warner Bros. (Harry Potter) and Procter & Gamble, has moved into Ground Zero’s Marina del Rey, Calif., office. The two agencies will jointly pitch companies across a variety of industries targeting the 20 million girls aged 8-18 in the U.S.

Gauger + Santy Rebrands Ugly Duckling

LOS ANGELES—Gauger + Santy this week launches a campaign for DriveTime, a chain of used-car dealerships formerly known as Ugly Duckling Corp. The effort by the Phoenix shop for the crosstown client includes TV spots tagged, “Now you’ve got options.” The commercials are airing in the 11 metropolitan markets where DriveTime dealerships are located.
