Conover Tuttle Breaking General Dynamics Ads

BOSTON—Conover Tuttle Advertising & Public Relations has been tapped by General Dynamics Worldwide Telecommunication Systems for a comprehensive branding campaign. The first of three print ads debuts this month in trade publications; all ads will use the “Strength on your side” tagline. The Lynnfield, Mass.-based Conover Tuttle is also redesigning the Needham, Mass., company’s Web site, creating new marketing and trade-show materials and handling public relations.

Bledsoe Foundation Launches First Trion Work

BOSTON—The Drew Bledsoe Foundation has unveiled its first work from Trion Communications. Previously known as McMahon Preston Communications, Trion was tapped for a pro-bono campaign that integrates media advertising, events planning and general public relations and publicity. Print-based ads use the theme “Making good parents great parents” and target low-income families, a demographic often overlooked by most parenting campaigns, Trion officials said. One print execution includes commonly heard parental warnings, such as “Because I said so!” and “Not while you’re living under my roof.” Text at the bottom of the ad asks, “Time for some new parenting techniques?” The effort will run in publications throughout southern New England.

Havas’ Media Contacts to Buy HookMedia

BOSTON—After an initial delay last Thursday at Federal Bankruptcy Court in Boston, the proposed sale of HookMedia’s assets to Media Contacts, a division of Havas Advertising, was approved by Judge Carol Kenner. HookMedia’s flagship Boston office is expected to be renamed Media Contacts. Most of the 50 employees in Boston and New York will likely be offered positions by Media Contacts, including Hook founder/CEO Don Epperson, who will continue to head the Boston office. HookMedia filed for protection from its creditors under Chapter 11 of the Federal Bankruptcy statutes in late April, after Epperson had begun negotiations to sell the company to Media Contacts. Epperson declined to comment late last week pending an announcement from Media Contacts. The filing was made after the Boston Internet buying and planning shop found itself unable to collect on its bills or raise capital to continue operations while negotiating a sale to Media Contacts. According to the filing, HookMedia has total assets of $13.6 million and debts of $10.6 million. HookMedia spun out of independent shop Pro Media as 2000 began.

CPS Picks Up Software Account

BOSTON—CPS Direct announced that it has added Mega International to its client roster. Paris-based Mega International develops software for designing and implementing business-to-business collaboration strategies. The company has offices in the U.S., France, Italy, the UK, Germany, Belgium, Holland and Mexico. Its U.S. client base includes Pacific Bell, Lockheed Martin, Lucent Technologies and Southwestern Bell. CPS will support Mega International with integrated business-to-business lead generation efforts in its target markets, as well as drive traffic to local seminars and national trade shows.
