Salem Five Names Duffy & Shanley

BOSTON–Salem Five Cents Savings Bank last week awarded its $1-2 million advertising account to Duffy & Shanley following a review. The Providence, R.I., agency overcame finalists Cronin & Co., Glastonbury, Conn., and Greenberg Seronick O’Leary & Partners, Boston. The review was managed by Pile and Co., Boston. The Salem, Mass.-based bank had been with Kelley Habib John Integrated Marketing, Boston, for about 15 years, and recent ads have supported the client’s online banking services.

McMahon Preston Becomes Trion

BOSTON–McMahon Preston Communications has a new name: Trion Communications. The Providence, R.I., advertising and public relations agency switched its moniker following the addition of Josh Fenton as partner. Fenton recently joined owners David and Frank McMahon and David Preston from RDW Group, also in Providence, where he spent four years, mainly running the mid-sized shop’s new-business acquisition efforts. Trion’s clients include Duke Energy, Verizon, National Grid and Walgreens.

Polaroid and Nike Run Amok

BOSTON–Polaroid and Nike have teamed up for the launch of a new athletic shoe. The two brands, both popular with teens, have created a sports sneaker with a display window for Polaroid’s i-Zone mini-pictures to create the “Nike Runamok Pic.” The creation of the sneaker was spurred by the success of Polaroid’s i-Zone Instant Pocket Camera. The target audience is girls aged 12-17.

Glen Group Promotes Carrabassett Academy

BOSTON–Glen Group has launched a marketing campaign for Carrabassett Valley Academy, Kingfield, Maine. The campaign from the agency in North Conway, N.H., rebrands the school, promoting the community and lifestyle of CVA and announcing new facilities and programs. Glen Group crafted a direct mail effort that features the copy, “Carabasset Valley Academy is more than a school. It’s a way of life.” CVA is a high school that combines education with a program designed to foster personal growth. The school maintains alpine training facilities at Sugarloaf/USA in Maine.

BOSTON–Bow Mills Bank & Trust of Bow, N.H., has tapped Stal-McLane, Manchester, N.H., for marketing and public relations chores … Bedford Granite Group, Bedford, N.H., hired Andrea Tindal as director of public relations; she had been assistant director of the New Hampshire Department of Resources and Economic Development’s Division of Travel & Co., an integrated marketing shop in Boston, has added Paul Sorenson as vice president of client services. Sorenson had been public relations director for Boston’s Trinity Communications … HMC Advertising of Stowe, Vt., has named Brad Moses president; he had been vice president of client services. Deb Gretkowski has joined HMC as director of new business. She previously held a similar post at Kelliher Samets Volk, Burlington, Vt. Tina Ferguson has joined as the shop’s traffic director.
