MediaVest Merges Operations
DETROIT–MediaVest/Detroit has combined the media resources of D’Arcy Masius Benton & Bowles and N.W. Ayer & Partners, both subsidiaries of The MacManus Group and General Motors roster shops. The group will be housed in Troy, Mich., near DMB&B’s offices, and be headed by former DMB&B media director Dennis Donlin and former N.W. Ayer media director Bob Reuschle.
Iams Continues Search Under P&G
CHICAGO–The review for Iams Co.’s $15 million pet foods account will continue under new owner Procter & Gamble, a P&G representative said last week. However, agencies involved in the review–initiated when Dayton, Ohio-based Iams split with Doner, Southfield, Mich.–said they had been told the contest was on hold, with most thinking the business will land at a previously uninvolved P&G agency.
Service Merchandise Taps Lighton Coleman
CHICAGO–Lighton Coleman here has taken over creative responsibilities for Service Merchandise. The Nashville, Tenn.-based retailer is planning a fourth-quarter broadcast push to help pull itself out of Chapter 11. Leo Burnett here previously handled the account.
BBDO Unveils Borden Ads
CHICAGO–BBDO’s first work for Borden Cheese breaks today with the tag, “Borden brings the freshness home.” More spots touting a new product line will run in late September. The Chicago-based agency won the estimated $15 million Dairy Farmers of America account late last year.
Y&R Splits Lincoln Work
DETROIT–Young & Rubicam, which followed Ford Motor Co.’s Lincoln-Mercury division from Detroit to California and even expanded its operation there, has been calling on the talents of creatives in its New York office to assist in some work for the automaker. Executives at Y&R’s San Francisco office minimized the significance of the shift, saying it is not unusual for offices to team up.
Tatham Expands Role With Hunt’s
CHICAGO–ConAgra Grocery Products has handed Euro RSCG Tatham responsibility for reviving the Hunt’s brand image. There has been no significant advertising for the ketchup or canned tomato sauces and pastes in recent years. The Fullerton, Calif.-based company named Tatham creative AOR without a review. Combined spending could reach an estimated $40 million. Tatham has been working with ConAgra, formerly Hunt-Wesson, since 1998. They already handle Orville Redenbacher, Swiss Miss and Peter Pan peanut butter.
General Mills, CME Get Gardetto’s
CHICAGO–Campbell Mithun Esty has picked up ad duties for Gardetto’s Bakery, agency officials said. General Mills, Minneapolis, bought the Milwaukee-based company last week. Gardetto’s $2 million account was with Berenter Greenhouse & Webster in New York.
