4 Shops Pursue $80-100 Mil. Ericcson Account

NEW YORK—Four finalists are pitching Ericcson’s $80-100 million global consumer products account: BBDO Worldwide, TBWA Worldwide, the Bcom3 team of Bartle Bogle Hegarty in London and Leo Burnett in Chicago and the incumbent, Young & Rubicam, sources said. Each finalist is tapping the resources of more than one office; TBWA’s team, for example, consists of TBWA in London and TBWA\Chiat\Day in New York, according to sources.

$20 Mil. Dialpad Duties to a.k.a. Euro RSCG

SAN FRANCISCO—Dialpad, an online long-distance service, has handed its estimated $20 million account to a.k.a. Euro RSCG in San Francisco without a review. The business had previously been at San Francisco’s Citron Haligman Bedecarré. Sources said the split was due to client management changes and the parting was amicable. Billings last year were also $20 million. The agency is slated to launch a new campaign trumpeting Dialpad’s convenience and easy-to-use features.

RFPs for BMW $30 Mil. Mini Work Sent

NEW YORK—Prequalifying questionnaires received by agencies to handle the estimated $30 million creative account for BMW’s Mini asked for key people at the agency who have previous automobile-category experience, sources said. The client also wants a description of shops’ interactive capabilities. Roth Associates in Chappaqua, N.Y., is handling the review. Agencies will receive a more in-depth questionnaire in two weeks, a source said. The Mini is scheduled to launch in North America in 2002.

Review for $80 Mil. Hardee’s Business Nears End

NEW YORK—Final pitches conclude this week for Hardee’s $80 million account, a representative for the Rocky Mount, N.C., client confirmed. The Martin Agency in Richmond, Va., WestWayne in Atlanta, TBWA\Chiat\Day, in Playa Del Rey, Calif., and Cliff Freeman and Partners in New York are the contenders, sources said.

Three shops are making what is expected to be final pitches this week for Amtrak’s $35 million account. The Washington, D.C., client will hear from FCB Worldwide, Ogilvy & Mather, both in New York, and The Martin Agency in Richmond, Va. Agencies referred questions to the client, which did not return calls. … Three finalists have been named in the review for Rational Software’s $15-20 million creative account. Mullen in Wenham, Mass., CGN Marketing & Creative Services in Boston, and Doremus in New York have advanced. The Cupertino, Calif.-based client previously worked with Allen & Gerritsen in Watertown, Mass. Media remains with Carat Freeman in Newton, Mass. … At least four shops are vying for the estimated $10 million account for PriceWaterhouseCoopers’ financial advisory services unit, which will be spun off under a new name before the end of the year, sources said. They are: Toolbox, Moss/Dragoti, DiMassimo Brand Advertising and Della Femina, Rothschild, Jeary & Partners, all in New York. … Cliff Freeman and Partners has won the estimated $10 million account for Mark Anthony Beverage Co.’s Mikes Hard Lemonade, an alcoholic beverage, sources said.
