7 Square Off for Promus Hotel Account
DALLAS–Promus Hotel Corp. of Memphis, Tenn., will hear presentations in July from seven shops for a possible consolidation of its $40 million account. Still in contention, according to sources, are incumbents GSD&M, Austin, Texas, and DDB Needham Dallas; Hill, Holliday, Connors, Cosmopulos and Arnold Communications, both Boston; TBWA Chiat/Day and Deutsch, both New York; and Foote, Cone & Belding, Chicago. Promus officials and agency executives declined to comment. Sources said each shop has been given a branding project. Ammirati Puris Lintas, New York, and other undisclosed agencies were considered but did not receive the assignment, according to sources.

Thrifty Car Rental Begins Evaluation Process
DALLAS–Thrifty Car Rental, Tulsa, Okla., has received 20-25 questionnaires in its $6 million account review, according to sources. Thrifty marketing officials could not be reached for comment Friday. The winning agency, which will be required to have a Tulsa presence, is expected to be named in August. Ackerman McQueen, Oklahoma City, resigned the business earlier this month. New York consultancy Advertising Agency Register is assisting.

GSD&M Breaks New Spot for Texas Lottery
DALLAS–GSD&M, Austin, Texas, has launched a new 30-second TV spot as part of an ongoing campaign for the Texas Lottery’s Texas Million game. Set in a salon, the spot features a balding man who admires the longer hair of the customer in the next chair before a voiceover asks, “Want more?” The next spot in the series is scheduled to break in August.

Integer Group Establishes Holding Company
LOS ANGELES–The Integer Group of Lakewood, Colo., has formed a holding company called TIG Communications Group. Integer founder and chief executive Ron Askew will oversee the operation, which consists of three advertising and integrated marketing firms: Integer, Kragie/Newell in Des Moines, Iowa, and TIG Dallas. Askew will serve as CEO of TIG Communications Group. The presidents of Integer, Kragie/Newell and TIG Dallas remain responsible for day-to-day management of their respective companies.

Point Group Hires Jones to Head PR Division
DALLAS–The Point Group here has named Scott Jones president of its public relations division. Jones arrives with 13 years of senior-level experience in public relations and public affairs. He joins The Point Group after serving as senior director at Temerlin McClain Public Relations (now BSMG Southwest) in Irving, Texas.

Atkins Installs Morris as PR Vice President
DALLAS–The Atkins Agency, San Antonio, has appointed Kelly Morris vice president of its six-person public relations group. Morris previously operated her own public relations firm, Communications Strategies.
