Fila’s $15-20 Mil. Review Includes Doner
BOSTON–After meeting with 16 shops, Fila USA in Hunt Valley, Md., is expected to name finalists in the next week or so and choose a winner in May, sources said. Contenders for the $15-20 million account include: roster shop W.B. Doner, as well as Eisner & Associates, both in Baltimore; Boston’s Ingalls Advertising and Hill, Holliday, Connors, Cosmopulos; and Angotti, Thomas, Hedge and Weiss, Whitten Stagliano, both New York.
Big River Brewery Rates 4 Atlanta Shops
ATLANTA–Big River Brewery in Chattanooga, Tenn., a developer of multichain restaurants and pubs in the Southeast, has met with four undisclosed Atlanta shops about an ad assignment. “We’re trying to figure out what we need,” said client marketing coordinator Denise Godfrey, who would not reveal a budget. A decision on hiring an agency is expected within a month. Currently, the client farms out work on a project basis.
Burnett, Martin Among Kelly Winners
LOS ANGELES–Leo Burnett’s Steffan Postaer, Mark Faulkner, Noel Han and Kit Cramer won the $100,000 prize for general excellence as well as a trophy for best at meeting campaign objectives for their Altoids campaign at the 17th annual Magazine Publishers of America Kelly Awards here last week. Trophies also went to The Martin Agency, Richmond, Va., for best ad headline and copy for the JFK Library & Museum, New York, and TBWA Chiat/Day, Venice, Calif., for best ad design and graphics for Apple Computer.
El Ni-o Inspires Outdoor Series in Georgia
ATLANTA–To generate awareness among local cable viewers, MediaOne and The Weather Channel here teamed up to produce an outdoor advertising project. Created by Atlanta’s Austin Kelley Advertising, one all-type board reads: “The only MediaOne channel hosted by El Ni-o.” “We suspect viewership of The Weather Channel is up sharply in Atlanta, due to recent turbulent weather in the area,” said MediaOne marketing vice president Dale Ordoyne in a statement.
Johnson Tops Chattanooga, Tenn., Addys
ATLANTA–At the Chattanooga, Tenn., ad competition, The Johnson Group took home 18 Addy awards, including best of show in print. Daniel Douglas Norcross won four Addys, including best of show in broadcast.
Gilbert & Manjura Marketing in Longwood, Fla., acquired the account of Triton Network Systems in Orlando, Fla., following a review of undisclosed Orlando-area contenders, the agency said. Triton, an upstart maker of wireless transmitters, will spend about $500,000 on advertising and public relations, an industry source estimated. . .CED Construction of Maitland, Fla., assigned advertising for its Villages of Southport community to Frailey & Wilson/Hallmark, Orlando, Fla. Sources estimated billings at $500,000.
