RICHARDS IS IN LINE FOR INVESCO BUSINESS
BOSTON-The Richards Group in Dallas has emerged as the favorite to win Invesco Funds Group’s estimated $5-7 million ad assignment, sources said. Client and agency executives either could not be reached or declined to comment. Richards has emerged as the “sole contender” for the business following a two-month review by the Denver-based mutual funds company, sources said. The agency could be awarded the business as soon as this week following one final presentation to the client, sources said. The account has been handled by The Boston Group in Boston.
ALAMO RENT A CAR CUTS TO 4 AGENCIES
ATLANTA-The field of agencies pitching the $20 million Alamo Rent A Car account has been narrowed to four, sources said. The contenders are: McCann-Erickson, Atlanta; DDB Needham, Dallas; and Lowe & Partners/SMS and Foote, Cone & Belding, both New York. Client officials in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., did not return telephone calls.
LITTLE ROCK HMO HIRES SELLS & ASSOCIATES
DALLAS-Sells & Associates of Little Rock, Ark., was tapped to handle advertising and communications work for QualChoice of Arkansas and affiliate QCA Health Plan. QualChoice/QCA serves 57,000 members in health maintenance and preferred provider organizations, as well as point-of-service health plans. Account billings are estimated at less than $1 million, according to sources.
HOUSTON EDUCATIONAL RETAILER SELECTS TRUM
DALLAS-Southwest Teacher Supply, a six-store Houston retailer of educational materials and teaching aids, hired Trum Advertising, Houston, as its agency of record. Initial work will be direct mail and print advertising. Billings were undisclosed.

BAYNE APPLIANCE TAPS FORSYTHE AFTER REVIEW
DALLAS-Forsythe & Butler Advertising and Marketing of Houston was appointed agency of record for Bayne Appliance, a 58-year-old chain with seven locations in Houston. Forsythe will handle television, radio and print ads that will run through the end of the year, according to the agency.
OLSON GROUP LANDS 2 HIGH-TECH ACCOUNTS
DALLAS-The Olson Group, Creative Marketing & Design in Austin, Texas, was awarded the redesign work of the Sterling Information Group World Wide Web site. The creative resource was also assigned all marketing and design projects for computer game publisher Aspyr Media.
