Nordstrom Goes Shopping With Fallon
LOS ANGELES–Fallon McElligott in Minneapolis has won a Nordstrom branding assignment estimated to be worth $20-30 million, following a review. The other finalist was Saatchi & Saatchi’s Los Angeles office. Select Resources International in Los Angeles conducted the review on behalf of the Seattle-based retailer. Brooke White, a Nordstrom representative, declined to give specifics on what the project will entail or when it is scheduled to break. Elgin DDB in Seattle remains Nordstrom’s agency of record.
Rednor Named DraftWorldwide President
CHICAGO–DraftWorldwide here elevated Jordan Rednor to president and chief operating officer, succeeding Dan Ginsburg, who will retire June 1. Rednor joined the agency last September as executive vice president.
Burnett Names Cassie Brand Planning Chief
CHICAGO–Leo Burnett named Neil Cassie to head a newly formed global task force on brand planning under the title director of brand planning worldwide. Cassie remains based in London, where he had been regional director of planning for Burnett’s Europe/Middle East/Africa region.
BMW Shakes Up Agency Roster in Germany
CHICAGO–BMW AG in Munich, Germany, has named Jung von Matt in Hamburg, Germany, to handle all its domestic and international advertising duties, effective Jan. 1, 1999. The agency will replace Cordiant-owned Scholz & Friends, which handles the automaker’s domestic ad duties, and BBDO, which holds the international account. The automaker said it intends to reorient its marketing to “strengthen its national and international [brand] image.” BMW of North America, handled by Fallon McElligott in Minneapolis, is not affected by the change.
Meldrum Campaign Gives Wood the Treatment
CHICAGO–Meldrum & Fewsmith Communications, Cleveland, has launched a national ad campaign for The Flood Co., Hudson, Ohio. The marketer of wood care and paint additive products is breaking TV spots on cable networks that depict the “Flood Wood School,” which the company’s employees purportedly attend. The tagline is, “How wood should be treated.”
