A Dot-Com Looks Beyond the Midwest
CHICAGO–Educational Web site company wwwrrr (pronounced “whir”), based in Minneapolis, is looking in New York and California for an agency to handle its $7 million ad account, said Todd Walker, vp of business partner development. The client does not think Midwest shops have enough experience with the dot-com business model, Walker said. He declined to name contenders.
A Hoffman/Lewis Adds STC
SAN FRANCISCO–Hoffman/Lewis picked up the estimated $12.5 million business-to-business account of STC, Redwood City, Calif., a provider of e-commerce integration products and services. The San Francisco agency won the business after a review of undisclosed agencies.
A Citron Among Contenders for Verio
CHICAGO–Web hosting company and Internet service provider Verio will hear pitches from seven agencies for its $15-20 million account. Contenders are Citron Haligman Bedecarre, San Francisco; Campbell Mithun Esty and Martin/Williams, both Minneapolis; Cramer-Krasselt, Chicago; Valentine-Radford, Kansas City, Mo.; The Sawtooth Branding Place, Woodbridge, N.J.; and The Richards Group, Dallas, said a company representative. The Englewood, Colo., client should decide by mid-June.
A Prieve to Return to Wieden Headquarters
NEW YORK–Michael Prieve, co-creative director at Wieden + Kennedy in New York, will return to the agency’s Portland, Ore., headquarters and work on special projects after he takes a sabbatical beginning Aug. 15, said spokeswoman Liz Hartge. Stacy Wall, New York’s other co-CD, will also leave Aug. 15 to take a position at New York production company Hungry Man, Hartge said.
A DDB’s Gold Comes West to RPA
LOS ANGELES–Lynne Neubert Gold, associate media director at DDB, Chicago, has taken the same title at Rubin Postaer and Associates. Gold will work on full-service and media-only new business for the Santa Monica, Calif., agency. RPA’s in-house media arm, RP Media, buys and plans for the agency’s clients and for Charles Schwab & Co., and Chef America.
A CreSenda Wireless Taps FCB
LOS ANGELES–CreSenda Wireless, a Los Angeles-based mobile connectivity product and service provider, tapped FCB Worldwide for a national marketing and ad effort. The Irvine, Calif., agency will launch CreSenda’s Wireless Professional Series TM in 20 major markets this summer. Billings are expected to rise to $10 million.
A Potter/Katz, Shoot the Moon Form P/K Media
LOS ANGELES–Ad agency Potter/Katz and direct response media buying company Shoot the Moon, both based in North Hollywood, Calif., have formed a new media shop called P/K Media.

LOS ANGELES–Starr Seigle Communications, Honolulu, was named travel Web site’s agency of record after a review. Billings were not disclosed.
