NEW YORK–The MacManus Group here is talking with Leo Burnett about “expanding our long-standing co-operative relationship . . . in the media arena,” according to an internal memo issued on Friday. Burnett and MacManus have combined media capabilities in several overseas markets and are discussing a possible expansion.
Long John Silver’s Moves From JMC&T to Lowe
NEW YORK–Long John Silver’s Restaurants has pulled the creative portion of its $50 million account from Jordan, McGrath, Case & Taylor here and awarded it to Lowe & Partners/SMS, also here, without a review, confirmed the client. JMC&T declined comment. Media duties remain at Western International Media in Los Angeles.
Tricon Media Review Advances to Next Stage
NEW YORK–BBDO Worldwide, Young & Rubicam Advertising and True North Communications all met with Tricon Global Restaurants last week for the first round of presentations in the review for Tricon’s estimated $285 million media account, sources said. The next round will be held in Louisville, Ky., in the next few weeks, said sources. Tricon is considering consolidating network TV buying for its KFC, Pizza Hut and Taco Bell chains [Adweek, Feb. 9].
Pepsi Execs to View New Round of BBDO Ads
NEW YORK–Following a cool reception by Pepsi-Cola bottlers toward its latest crop of ads, BBDO in New York this week will meet with executives from the soft-drink marketer to present new work to add to, if not replace, several ill-received Super Bowl spots, sources said.
Hilfiger Gives Creative Account to Arnell
NEW YORK–Tommy Hilfiger here has awarded the creative portion of its estimated $30-40 million ad account to Arnell Group Brand Consulting here after a review, the client confirmed. PGR Media in Providence, R.I., will retain media duties. Toth Design & Advertising in Concord, Mass., is the incumbent.
1-800-Flowers Picks Kirshenbaum
NEW YORK–Kirshenbaum Bond & Partners here has landed 1-800-Flowers’ estimated $12-15 million account after a three-month review. The agency will handle creative as well as media planning and buying duties. Incumbent McCann-Erickson here declined to participate.
Mitsubishi Removes G/Z From Roster
LOS ANGELES–Mitsubishi Motor Sales of America said G/Z, the partnership between Grey Advertising and Zimmerman & Partners pitching Mitsubishi’s dealer businesses against Deutsch, has been removed from its roster. The client said it discovered last week that the buyout of Zimmerman by Grey was never consummated. The remaining 11 dealer groups, which were either undecided or had selected G/Z, now only have Deutsch as an agency option, according to the client. Deutsch had previously won the majority of the dealer business.
