– Digitas to Begin Trading This Week
BOSTON–Trading of shares in Digitas is slated to begin Tuesday. Listed on the Nasdaq exchange as DTAS, the Boston Internet marketing services company intends to issue 9.3 million shares of common stock at $18-20 in an IPO. The lead underwriter is Morgan Stanley Dean Witter. According to its most recent statement filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission, Digitas reported a loss of nearly $45 million in 1999; revenues grew 53 percent to $187 million in 1999 from $122 million in 1998.
– Kushell Quits Hill, Holliday President Post
BOSTON–A search is on to replace Chuck Kushell as president of Hill, Holliday, Connors, Cosmopulos in New York. Kushell, who helped rebuild the New York operation in his four-year tenure, adding such clients as Priceline, Minolta, Riggs Bank and Popeye’s, is leaving to start an Internet-related company, agency executives said. Executive creative officer Dave Wecal has been named acting chief.
– Massachusetts Tourism Cuts List to 3
BOSTON–Three shops have emerged as finalists in the ongoing review for the $3-9 million ad account of the Massachusetts Office of Travel & Tourism. Advancing last week were CGN Marketing & Creative Services, Heater Advertising and Irma S. Mann, Strategic Marketing, all in Boston. Boston Group and Kelley Habib John Integrated Marketing, both Boston, did not move forward. Incumbent Holland Mark Edmund Ingalls, Boston, is not defending.
– Domania.com Taps Partners for Online Ads
BOSTON–Domania.com, a CMGI@Ventures-funded company, hired Partners & Simons, Boston, to develop online ads and Hook Media, Boston, to handle media buying. Domania.com, an upgraded version of Homepricecheck.com, will launch within three weeks. The site has not chosen an offline advertising agency, but Partners is believed to be in the running, sources said. The Cambridge, Mass., client offers a national database of home prices, property tax assessments, mortgage rates and demographic information.
– EMI Cheetahs Put Bite in Fleet Campaign
BOSTON–EMI Strategic Marketing has created a campaign for Fleet that features point-of-sale displays with full-sized cheetah cutouts and the tagline, “Run with the best.” The displays and collateral promote a credit initiative through the bank’s small business services group that promises same-day response to loan applications. The $700,000-800,000 campaign runs though April 17.
