JWT Ends 9-Month Tenure With Dell
CHICAGO–Officials at J. Walter Thompson here expressed surprise and disappointment at Dell Computer’s decision last week to shift its $70 million corporate branding account to BBDO, New York. JWT had handled the account since last December. Its first campaign, tagged “Be direct,” began in June with a TV spot featuring a mouse setting fire to a maze to get a cheese reward. A representative for Round Rock, Texas-based Dell would not confirm the account shift or comment about the company’s intentions.
