Mirage Assigns Creative Account to GSD&M
DALLAS–Mirage Resorts, Las Vegas, cut short an agency search expected to last six more weeks and hired GSD&M of Austin, Texas, to handle the creative portion of its $30 million account. Other shops contacted in the monthlong review, according to a client official, included The Richards Group in Dallas; TBWA/Chiat/Day in Playa del Rey, Calif.; and Deutsch, New York. Media buying remains at Western International Media in Los Angeles.
Bromley Creates Burger King Kids Club Spot
DALLAS–Bromley, Aguilar & Associates, San Antonio, produced a 30-second television commercial for Burger King Kids Club that is airing on national Spanish-language networks through December. Animation for the spot was provided by Class-Key Chew-Po Commercials, West Hollywood, Calif.
Builders Square Alamo Bowl Recruits Atkins
DALLAS–The Atkins Agency, San Antonio, was retained by the Builders Square Alamo Bowl to provide advertising and public relations. As part of the agency of record designation, Atkins president Steve Atkins was named to the Alamo Bowl’s board of directors. The sixth annual football game is set for Dec. 29.
Doner Gets Animated for Blockbuster
DETROIT–W.B. Doner & Co. in Southfield, Mich., this week breaks its first full campaign for Dallas-based Blockbuster since succeeding Young & Rubicam, New York, as lead agency on the video retailer’s $100 million-plus account. A 30-second TV spot and accompanying print feature Santa rendered in anime, or Japanese-style animation. The “Go home happy” tag is not used in the spot but appears in print ads.
Montemayor Bows ‘Marvelous’ White Wings
DALLAS–Montemayor y Asociados, San Antonio, is utilizing radio and outdoor media in a new Spanish-language campaign for hometown client Pioneer Flour Mills’ White Wings bread. The agency, which won the assignment in August, will continue the advertising effort through April 1999. The tagline: “Quƒ maravilla de tortilla” (“What a marvelous tortilla”). Campaign spending was undisclosed.
Bob Bond’s Ultimatum: ‘Webify or Die’

Connect Systems here has been launched by Dallas agency Bob Bond & Others. The campaign theme, “Webify or die,” touts integrating business practices with Internet technologies, according to the company. Bill-ings were undisclosed.
