MacGregor Golf Appoints Final Threesome
ATLANTA–MacGregor Golf has halved the number of agencies in its $3-5 million account review to three, confirmed company spokesman Steve Nehru. A representative for Burris Advertising said the High Point, N.C., shop was a finalist, while Atlanta’s T.G. Madison said it had been eliminated. Holland Advertising in New York and Atlanta’s Fricks/Firestone referred all questions to the client, while Austin Kelley Advertising of Atlanta and Husk Jennings Advertising in Jacksonville, Fla., did not return phone calls. Speaking through Nehru, MacGregor Golf marketing vice president Jeffrey Sears said he would not confirm nor deny Burris, Fricks/Firestone and Holland as finalists “because then we’re locked into a decision and it doesn’t give us any wriggle room.” A final decision is expected this week. Raleigh, N.C., incumbent Howard, Merrell & Partners did not defend the Atlanta golf club maker’s advertising account.
Reynolds Plantation Set to Name Leslie
ATLANTA–Leslie Advertising will be named advertising agency for the luxury residential development Reynolds Plantation this week, according to sources. The golf community, which boasts four courses created by Jack Nicholas and other notable designers and has residents like former Georgia Senator Sam Nunn and Atlanta Olympic official Billy Payne, is located near Augusta, Ga. Its ad account is said to bill $1.4 million annually. Leslie, which had originally been picked for the review a year ago but had to withdraw because of a client conflict, topped Atlanta incumbent Austin Kelley Advertising and The Zimmerman Agency in Tallahassee, Fla.
Henderson CD Moves to Fitzgerald
ATLANTA–Henderson Advertising creative director Bob Warren is leaving the agency to become senior vice president and group creative director at Fitzgerald & Co. He will report to executive vice president and chief creative officer Jim Paddock. Warren will join the Atlanta shop’s current group creative director, Chris Schlegel, and a third yet-to-be-named individual, Paddock said. The Greenville, N.C., agency has not named a replacement.
Fountainhead, Pringle Dixon to Merge
ATLANTA–Fountainhead Advertising will announce a merger with Pringle Dixon Pringle this week, said sources. When contacted, representatives for both Atlanta shops had no comment.
Smith Retains 2 Carolina Accounts
ATLANTA–Smith Advertising & Associates has retained a pair of North Carolina accounts totaling more than $1.5 million in combined annual billings. The Buncombe County Tourism Development Authority and the North Carolina State Ports Authority both renewed their advertising contracts with the Fayetteville, N.C., shop without a review.
