Just For Feet Fields $25 Mil. Project
NEW YORK–Athletic footwear retailer Just For Feet of Birmingham, Ala., has put a $25 million brand image assignment in play, confirmed company chairman Harold Ruttenberg. Rogers Advertising, also in Birmingham, now handles spot work. Ruttenberg wants to break a new campaign in the first half of 1999.
First Union Bank Stages 2 Reviews
BOSTON–First Union Corp. in Charlotte, N.C., is
holding reviews for two separate pieces of business. The bank’s wholesale financial products division is looking for an agency to handle $5-10 million in business-to-business advertising, including creative development and media placement, said Rick Hooker, an official with Pile and Co., the Boston consultancy overseeing the search. A list of contenders is due within two weeks; a decision is expected in November. A second review is being handled by Jones-Lundin Associates of Chicago for retail advertising and merchandising, including local newspaper ads and collateral materials, sources said. Neither review is expected to affect the client’s corporate branding work at Publicis & Hal Riney in San Francisco or the direct marketing handled by Hill, Holliday Direct in Boston and Earle Palmer Brown in Philadelphia.
Ogilvy Print Touts Kodak Digital Camera
NEW YORK–Kodak targets PC-savvy women when it breaks a $5 million print series on Nov. 2 trumpeting the new DC-210 Plus digital camera. The campaign, via Ogilvy & Mather in Atlanta, marks the Rochester, N.Y., firm’s largest effort to date for this emerging product segment. In addition to newsweeklies, ads will appear in December monthlies, aiming to position Kodak’s latest digital camera as a product women should consider as a holiday present for themselves or family members. Three double-page spreads, and possibly a fourth, are planned.
Zimmerman Defends, Renews Destinations
DALLAS–The Zimmerman Agency in Tallahassee, Fla., defeated two shops to retain the $500,000 account of the Brevard County, Fla.-based Space Coast Office of Tourism. Also competing were Hallmark/Tassone in Orlando, Fla., and Gilbert & Manjura Marketing in Longwood, Fla. Another Zimmerman client–the Okaloosa County (Fla.) Tourist Development Council–renewed its $1 million annual contract with the agency without a review.
Simmons, MSR&C Form Joint Venture
DALLAS–Miami-based Market Segment Research & Consulting (MSR&C) has formed a joint venture with Simmons Market Research Bureau of New York that will focus on the U.S. Hispanic market. The two organizations will utilize each other’s existing industry surveys, the Simmons Hispanic Report and MSR&C Ethnic Market Report, and together study various issues affecting Latino consumers.
