Brink’s Seeks Advertising Security
DALLAS–Brink’s Home Security of Irving, Texas, has placed its $10-15 million direct advertising account into review, client senior vice president of marketing Bruce Goldberg confirmed last week. Goldberg said incumbent The Boston Group in Boston would be asked to defend. The media incumbent, Western International Media in Los Angeles, will also participate. The company has enlisted consultant Andersen-Claggett in New York for the nationwide review.
Doubleheader for Gart Sports
CHICAGO–Gart Sports Co., Denver, has identified contenders for the media buying and broadcast creative portions of a $8-10 million project. Media contenders are: incumbent Reich Communications, Lakewood, Colo.; Carat-ICG, Los Angeles; TBS Media Management, New York; and the San Diego offices of Western International Media and Media That Works. Broadcast contenders are: Fogarty Klein & Partners, Houston; Pasadena Advertising, Pasadena, Calif.; Henry Gill Agency, Denver; Leo Burnett, Chicago; and Schupp Co. in St. Louis. Both lists are expected to be narrowed to two finalists this week.
Shopko Stores Shopping Broadcast Account
CHICAGO–Discount retailer Shopko Stores, Green Bay, Wis., has sent letters to about 30 shops for its $12 million broadcast account, which includes media planning and placement, the company said. Shopko split with Bozell in Chicago after six years. The company will primarily look at Midwest shops, with a decision expected in June.
Alternative Living Goes to Laughlin/Constable
CHICAGO–Laughlin/Constable in Milwaukee won the estimated $5-7 million ad business of Alternative Living Services, Brookfield, Wis., which provides assisted living for the elderly, over unidentified area shops.
CME Exits Mattress Review
CHICAGO–Campbell Mithun Esty, Minneapolis, dropped out of the review for creative duties on Select Comfort Corp.’s $10 million account. Kruskopf Olson, Minneapolis, remains. Haworth Marketing Communications, also Minneapolis, handles media.
