Reebok Sets Advertising Agenda With Heater
BOSTON–Heater Advertising met with Reebok International officials last week in Atlanta to begin charting a course of action. The 20-person Boston shop and its spin-off, The Heat, will take leadership roles among a handful of as yet unnamed boutiques assuming creative duties on the account, said Reebok representative Dave Fogelson. Agency president Bill Heater said his shop will contribute to developing a global branding campaign as well as product-specific promotions. The Heat, opened in Boston last month by DeMane Davis and Khari Streeter, will assist Heater Advertising as needed. Reebok does not have firm plans for a media-buying agency nor does it have other creative shops lined up, Fogelson said. Leo Burnett in Chicago resigned the footwear maker’s estimated $100 million account two weeks ago, citing philosophical differences and frustration.
Simon Marketing Agrees to Cyrk Buyout
BOSTON–Cyrk, a promotional products company in Gloucester, Mass., has signed an agreement to purchase Simon Marketing of Los Angeles, a company specializing in youth marketing programs. The combination will create a promotional entity with nearly $700 million in annual revenues and offices in New York, Paris, London, Taiwan and Hong Kong. The deal is expected to close within 90 days. Cyrk also recently acquired Tonkin, a Seattle-based promotional products and catalog company.
Hill, Holliday Executives Move to New York
BOSTON–Two executives from the Hill, Holliday, Connors, Cosmopulos in Boston have joined Hill, Holliday/Altschiller, the agency’s affiliate in New York. David Ward, a senior vice president recruited from Bozell Worldwide in November to head up media operations and primary research at the Boston agency, becomes director of strategic research at Altschiller. In addition, senior vice president Blake Olsen moves to Hill, Holliday/Altschiller as group director overseeing the Sony, Loews Hotels and Hartmann Luggage accounts.
Donovan Group Hires Creative Director
BOSTON–Larry Buckley has been named creative director at the Donovan Group Integrated Marketing of Worcester. He is replacing Mark Minter, who was named director of creative services.
Adweek Promotes Parker to Group Publisher
NEW YORK–Michael E. Parker, senior vice president of sales and marketing at Adweek Magazines and publisher of Mediaweek, has been promoted to executive vice president and group publisher. In his new position, Parker will add responsibilities for Adweek Magazines marketing services operations, as well as sales and marketing for Marketing Computers, while retaining sales and marketing leadership of Adweek, Brandweek and Mediaweek.
