Celebrity Cruises Seeks Collateral Help
ATLANTA–Sources said Celebrity Cruises in Miami is conducting an agency search involving its collateral business. Lead agency for the cruise line is Harris Drury Cohen in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. That shop is reportedly pitching the assignment, along with the Tampa, Fla., and Miami offices of WestWayne; Avanti Advertising & Marketing Consultants, Miami; incumbent SHR Perceptual Management, Scottsdale, Ariz.; and possibly one unnamed agency. A source estimated the account is worth $1.4 million. Consultant Jan Apple of Minnetonka, Minn., is conducting the review. Apple did not return phone calls for comment.
Fareed Lands Cape May County Tourism
ATLANTA–Fareed & Co. Hospitality Marketing and Communications in Norfolk, Va., has been named agency of record on its first tourism account. After three years of working on a project basis with the Cape May County Department of Tourism, which encompasses six seaside cities in New Jersey, the agency was assigned the $250,000 account without a review. The new campaign will sell the six cities as one diverse vacation destination and use “Escape to the Jersey Cape” as a tagline. Previously, the account was handled in-house. Fareed creative director Nancy Porter, who pursued the business, is a Cape May native.
Valverde & Rodriguez Opens in Florida
ATLANTA–Two South Florida advertising executives have formed Valverde & Rodriguez Advertising in Coral Gables, Fla. The full-service agency will serve English- and Spanish-speaking markets in the U.S., the Caribbean and Latin America. Amy Rodriguez Powell, previously senior vice president of account planning at Accent Marketing, joins Anuca Valverde of Valverde & Associates to form the new entity, which has billings of $3 million and nine employees.
DePreta, Marcus Join Virginia Agency
ATLANTA–E. James White Co. of Alexandria, Va., has hired Joseph DePreta as senior vice president and chief strategic officer and Lorie Marcus as creative director. DePreta arrives from a three-year stint at BellSouth Personal Communications in Atlanta. Marcus previously worked at Frankel & Co. in Chicago.
Atlanta Falcons Draft Cook Sports
ATLANTA–The Atlanta Falcons have signed Cook Sports, a division of Cook Marketing Communications of Jacksonville, Fla. This is the second National Football League team to contract Cook. The first was the Jacksonville Jaguars. Cook will concentrate on helping the Falcons with season ticket sales and other marketing initiatives. Billings were not disclosed.
