Bozell Poised to Win BofA as Lowe Drops Out
NEW YORK–Bozell Worldwide along with fellow True North Communications shop Temerlin McClain, Irving, Texas, is likely to win creative duties on the $80-100 million Bank of America ad account after Lowe & Partners/ SMS dropped out of the contest, citing compensation issues. “I can see no reason why it won’t become Bozell’s account,” said Alfred Geduldig of Geduldig & Ferguson, the New York search consultant handling the review. Presentations by the two finalists had been scheduled for next week. A separate review for the media account, which Bozell is also pitching, is ongoing.
JWT Expands Shell Global Duties
NEW YORK–J. Walter Thompson has been awarded $45 million in additional global ad duties from Shell International. The agency already handles the business in Europe and the Asia Pacific region and will pick up additional duties in January from Ogilvy & Mather in Africa, Australia, New Zealand and a portion of Latin America. Ogilvy handles Shell in the U.S. “This shift will enable us to save costs and have a consistent global strategy and communications plan,” said Raoul Pinnell, global head of brands and communications for Shell.
Adweek’s Dawson, McCarthy Promoted
LOS ANGELES–Angela Dawson has been named editor of Adweek’s Western edition, effective immediately. Dawson, who previously served as managing editor of the Los Angeles-based edition, succeeds Michael McCarthy in the post. McCarthy has been named a national reporter-at-large and will work from New York. Dawson joined Adweek in 1995 as a reporter and was named managing editor two years later. McCarthy joined the magazine in 1991 and has held various reporter and editor positions, most recently editor of the Western edition.
