Hood to Head B/G’s Tenn. Office

Biggs/Gilmore Communications tapped retailer Karen Hood to run it’s new office in Knoxville, Tenn.
The Kalamazoo, Mich., agency opened the Knoxville office earlier this year to handle its expanding relationship with longtime client Sea Ray Boats.
Hood comes to the agency from Proffitt’s, a division of Saks Fifth Avenue, where she was special events director. In addition to overseeing the shop’s Sea Ray business, she is charged with pursuing new accounts.
Previously, the agency’s primary responsibility was the boat manufacturer’s Web site, although Sea Ray has assigned the shop project work for more than a decade. That relationship grew when Sea Ray earlier this year shifted print and promotional work to the agency. The estimated $3 million account was formerly with Knoxville based Davis-Newman-Payne Advertising.
Besides Kalamazoo and Knoxville, B/G has a field office in Indianapolis that handles the Baja Marine Corp. ac-count, said agency representative Dom-inick Gladstone.
Meanwhile, the agency is expanding its Kalamazoo office because of new business from clients, including Steelcase, Azimut Yachts USA, Pharmacia & Upjohn and Valent USA Corp. Billings have increased to $85 million from $75 million six months ago, Gladstone said. K
