Interpublic Group’s Hill, Holliday in Boston is ringing in the new year in a big way, hiring Lance Jensen as its new chief creative officer.
Jensen succeeds Kevin Moehlenkamp, who left the agency after five years. Jensen had co-founded crosstown independent Modernista 10 years ago, and, along with partner Gary Koepke, served as its guiding force and creative leader.
“Over the course of his career, Lance has demonstrated the rare ability to not only create and execute truly resonant work in his own right, but to lead others in the same endeavor,” said CEO Mike Sheehan, in a statement. “His vision for great work spans every conceivable media and technology, which will invariably help Hill, Holliday and our clients continue to grow in the coming years.”

Prior to Modernista’s formation, Jensen was a key architect of Volkswagen’s iconic “Drivers wanted” campaign while at Havas’ Arnold, which is also based in Boston.
Modernista has struggled in the past year, losing key business from General Motors and Palm.
Hill, Holliday lost CVS earlier this year, but recently added assignments such as Major League Baseball and Supercuts. The agency’s largest and best-known clients include Dunkin’ Donuts and Liberty Mutual.
