Havas Taps Bolloré As Chair

BOSTON Havas named investor Vincent Bolloré chairman of its board of directors and Philippe Wahl CEO last week, the holding company said. Wahl had been president of the Caisse Nationale des Caisses d’ Épargne banking group. His selection came as a surprise, as his name had not come up previously in connection with the post vacated three weeks ago by Alain de Pouzilhac, who resigned following a nearly yearlong power struggle with Bolloré.

Y&R, OMD Win Hilton Account

NEW YORK Hilton Hotels has selected WPP’s Young & Rubicam and Omnicom’s OMD to handle creative and media duties, respectively, on its estimated $45 million Hilton brand account, the client confirmed. The other creative finalists were TBWA\ Chiat\Day in New York, GSD&M in Austin, Texas, McCann Erickson in New York and incumbent Foote Cone & Belding in Irvine, Calif., which continues to handle Hilton’s Doubletree, Hampton Inn and Homewood Suites brands.

Toth Retains Tommy Hilfiger

NEW YORK Tommy Hilfiger has returned its creative chores to independent Toth Brand Imaging without a review, the agency confirmed. Concord, Mass.-based Toth helped propel the brand into the national consciousness from 1991-98. Hilfiger had worked with several agencies in recent years, such as IPG’s Deutsch, MDC Partners-backed Kirshenbaum Bond + Part-ners and Omnicom’s Arnell Group, all in New York.
