Grey Picks Up Rayovac Creative

NEW YORK Grey Worldwide has won a creative assignment for Rayovac batteries, the agency said. Its sister company, MediaCom, will handle media duties.

The Atlanta client is part of Rayovac Corp.

In a statement, Steve Blamer, CEO of Grey North America, said, “We’re delighted with this win because this assignment was awarded without a review as a direct result of the work we have done on Remington, our ongoing client that was acquired recently by Rayovac. This kind of validation by our new client is particularly gratifying.”

Billings were undisclosed, but according to Nielsen Monitor-Plus, Rayovac spent about $5 million advertising its battery products in 2003.

The client had previously used Condon & Root, an agency in Barrington, Ill.

Lester Lee, president of Rayovac North America, said in a statement, “We are looking forward to combining the creative power of Grey with the power and performance of our Rayovac battery products to create exciting advertisements that resonate with consumers and generate top-of-mind awareness of our brand.”

Grey Global Group owns Grey and MediaCom. A new ad campaign is expected in October, the New York agency said.
