Grey Closing Dallas Office

NEW YORK — Grey is closing its Dallas-Fort Worth office, effective June 28, the agency announced.

An agency representative said the office closing is because its sole client, the Texas Dairy Queen Operators Council, is moving its account to another Dallas advertising agency, Loomis. One of the 12 Grey employees affected will be moving to Grey Los Angeles to continue working on the Dairy Queen business, which will continue to be serviced by Grey, including its New York office.

In a statement, Grey Global Group vice chairman Bob Berenson said, “We’re proud that the work we’ve done for Dairy Queen in Texas has resulted in 12 consecutive months of sales growth. While we’re disappointed that the TDQOC felt they needed a change, we look forward to continuing our partnership with the Dairy Queen operations around the world. We continue in our commitment to deliver outstanding creative and unique marketing programs that help insure DQ’s position as a leader in the quick service restaurant and treat categories.”

Dairy Queen spent $32 million in media in 2001, per CMR.
