Greaves Rejoins Deutsch/LA as Operations Director

Founding Member of the Office Returns After 2 Years in New York
LOS ANGELES–Kristin Greaves, one of the architects of Deutsch’s success in Southern California, is returning to the office she helped make the talk of the town in Los Angeles.
The eclectic executive, who moved to the agency’s New York headquarters two years ago to be director of human resources/development, returns to Deutsch/LA on June 6 as executive vice president, director of operations.
“Kristin is truly one of the heart-and-soul members of the agency,” said Donny Deutsch, the shop’s New York-based CEO. “She did a spectacular job helping to launch the L.A. office and did a great job in New York. Now she’s going back for an encore performance.”
Greaves, 40, has worked in human resources, account management and new business. She notched 15 years on the account side at DDB, J. Walter Thompson and Jordan McGrath Case & Partners in Chicago before coming to L.A. in 1992 to handle Nestle for Jordan.
She was part of the team that in 1995 opened Deutsch/LA, a shop that immediately integrated with the community–Greaves remains a board member of the Los Angeles Advertising Agencies Association–and quickly won notice for its work on Buzz magazine, Wolfgang Puck Foods and other high-profile accounts.
In 1998, the shop won Mitsubishi after a yearlong courtship. (The client said at the time it was “in love” with the agency.) Today the office commands more than $450 million in billings and is the ninth-largest agency in town.
Greaves will be “in charge of getting us to that next level from a logistical process standpoint,” said Mike Sheldon, Deutsch/LA evp/general manager, including “integrating our various units [including traditional advertising and] direct, interactive, collateral and Hispanic [marketing].
“It makes my job so much easier because it takes a lot of the operational burden off me. Kristin is an incredible ‘Deutscher’–big brain, big heart, thick skin and two degrees off-center.”
