While many people have visions of sugarplums dancing in their heads right now, residents in the Philadelphia area will be visited with scenes of teenage violence this holiday season.
The Goose agency in Philadelphia has created a 30-second TV spot for Child Care Matters, a consortium of social-services agencies that helps children in the city’s metropolitan area.
Using footage and voiceovers from newscasts on various tragedies, such as the aftermath of the Columbine High School shooting, the spot proffers the questions, “Can you stop a child from building a bomb at age 16? Or do you have to do it by age four?”
Goose creative director Kelly Simmons said, “I got chills when we thought of the idea, and I still do when I see it.”
The spot, with $1 million in donated-media time, has no set break date yet, but Simmons said it will probably air in the Philadelphia market before Christmas.
