WPP’s MediaCom has replaced North American CEO Doug Checkeris with another longtime agency veteran Harvey Goldhersz.
The move was not unexpected as Mediacom has gone through a tumultuous year that included roughly $1 billion in client losses, capped with the $700 million GlaxoSmithKline U.S. account departure two weeks ago after a review.
Checkeris joined MediaCom U.S. as CEO in 2007 and was elevated a year later to North American CEO.
A 28-year veteran of the agency, Goldhersz has been global chief operating officer of MediaCom since 2004.
The switch was implemented by global CEO Stephen Allan, who said that Goldhersz’ “extensive experience with global clients and services, and his groundbreaking work with MediaCom’s digital services make him the ideal person to run our North American operations.”
